Character Name: Xion
Series: Kingdom Hearts
Gender: Female
Age: 14-15-ish
Species: Replica, appears human
Appearance:
Due to her status as a (flawed) replica of Sora, made from his memories of Kairi, Xion’s appearance fluctuates. Most of the Organization members never see her face, just a slim girl in the Organization uniform of black pants, black gloves, black shoes (in Xion’s case, high-heeled boots), and a black, hooded coat with the hood up. She’ll show her face to those she trusts, and they usually see her as a girl with short black hair and blue eyes. As she nears her completion as Sora’s copy, those who have seen him (or Ven) have moments where they see her as him.
In the Realm of Dreams, Xion will appear as the girl with black hair and blue eyes, since that’s how she sees herself. Even then, those with strong connections to Ven or Sora may have moments where they see her as one of the others. Never for very long, but enough to make them wonder.
Personality:
Xion is shy and slow to speak--she didn’t speak to Roxas until she’d been on a mission or two with him, and waited for Roxas’s reassurance about Axel before saying anything the first time all three of them were together. Once she warms up to someone she’ll talk to them without any prompting, but others have to get her attention with a demand or a question. When it comes to personal problems her first instinct is try to solve them on her own, and seek quiet and solitude in which to mull the situation over. She has to be persuaded into asking for help, and tends to act on her own.
That said, Xion is curious and wants to know more about the world and herself. Whether confused by having no memories before joining the Organization, or by the tangle of memories she receives from Sora, she looks for answers. Those she finds don’t always bring greater understanding, or comfort, but she deals with them the best she can. If she ever seems confused, it’s usually not due to a lack of intelligence, but a lack of information.
Despite being shy, and often doubting herself, Xion is capable of great courage if it means she could help her friends. Though it means ceasing to exist as her own separate self, not even remaining alive in her friends’ memories, she’s willing to return to Sora’s heart if it means Roxas will be safe. Because that’s what has to be done, as far as she’s concerned (Xion is a little stubborn, too).
Abilities: Xion can use the Keyblade, a special weapon that, as the name indicates, is like a combination of sword and key. Using various “Gears” that attach to it she can alter it’s shape and use it to boost her strength, defense, or other abilities. Though having only wielded it for a year, near-daily missions and fights against hundreds of Heartless have made her a skilled fighter with it, despite her never having been formally trained in its use.
Even without the Keyblade, Xion can hold her own in a fight. She’s fairly skilled in magic, having learned fire, ice, lightning, and healing spells, and will use those as well as her Keyblade to defeat enemies. While never trained in unarmed combat, it can be assumed that she’s reasonably strong for a girl of her height and build, and so could provide a challenge even without her Keyblade or magic.
Items: Keyblade, all her Gears, and a few Megapotions that were in her pockets.
History:
Xion is a Replica Vexen created using memories Xemnas gathered from Sora. She was meant to copy him completely by using those memories as a connection through which she could drain all of Sora’s memories (via Roxas). It was for this reason Roxas and Xion were allowed to become close, Roxas partnering with Xion on her first few missions while Axel and others were at Castle Oblivion.
During this time the two became friendly. Roxas introduced Xion to the wonders of sea-salt ice cream and the special hangout Axel had shown him atop Twilight Town’s clock tower. Shortly after Xion discovered she could use a Keyblade, Roxas collapsed after a mission. Xion visited him every day he was asleep, bringing him a seashell from Destiny Islands (which she’d discovered on her own). Not long after he woke she was sent on a mission to kill a specific Heartless and discovered she couldn’t use the Keyblade. Afraid of the punishment for returning without killing the Heartless (using magic wouldn’t work because then the heart wouldn’t be collected for the Kingdom Hearts Xemnas was attempting to create), she stayed in Twilight Town, keeping an eye on the Heartless until she could figure out another plan. It was there Roxas and a recently returned Axel found her. After defeating the Heartless, they talked on the clock tower, and once she told them what had happened, Axel came up with the idea to have her and Roxas team up for missions--then nobody would know that all the hearts collected were due to Roxas’s keyblade alone.
The idea worked for a time. Then Saix, suspicious, gave them what he said would be their last mission together for a while. As a last-ditch effort, Roxas let Xion use his keyblade to see if that would help. It did, and for a while all was peaceful. Axel, Roxas, and Xion became best friends--meeting up at the clock tower after every mission and planning to spend their next day off at the beach. Then Xion was assigned to hunt down an “Organization imposter”--Riku, who was looking into the reason behind the delay in the repair of Sora’s chain of memories.
Their first meeting left her upset--she lost the fight, and he called her a fake. Not long after, she collapsed on a mission and it was Roxas’s turn to look out for her with a little help from Axel. Not long after she woke up, she decided to go to Castle Oblivion to get some answers--Sora’s memories had begun to affect her. She sneaked away and, after finding out something of the truth about her origin, ran away from the Organization. Riku found her and offered to help buy her some time to think. She accepted this, but the Organization was looking for her and eventually Axel and Roxas found her in Twilight Town. They fought, but Axel knocked her unconscious quickly and they brought her back to The World that Never Was.
There was a change in Roxas after this: he tired easily, and wasn’t as strong as he used to be. A conversation with Axel confirmed Xion’s suspicions that a)this was due to her presence and b) Axel knew what she really was. While she was trying to decide what to do, the Organization forced her hand by setting her and Roxas up to fight, using illusions to make each think the other was a target Heartless. Axel stepped in just in time, and explained that the Organization had been planning this all along: set up Sora’s Replica against his Nobody, and whichever won would absorb the other and be stronger for it.
The next day Xion saw herself as Sora for a moment and decided she had to act. On a mission with Xigbar and Axel, she attacked Xigbar (who saw her as Ven), and convinced Axel to let her go (he promised to look after Roxas). She took to the Corridors of Darkness, hoping she could find Riku again and he could lead her to Sora. She did find him, but he told her to speak to Namine first.
Namine explained that once Xion gave Sora back his memories and faded, everyone would forget her. Not even Namine’s abilities could prevent this. Xion was still willing to give the memories back, but before she could, Axel caught up to her. He’d been sent to bring her back to the Organization and, after a fight, succeeded. Xemnas then did what he could to “reprogram” Xion and send her to fight Roxas, who had left during her absence.
She’d managed to regain control of herself, fortunately, but not before a confrontation was unavoidable. So she attacked Roxas, forcing him to “kill” her to save himself. This allowed her to give the memories to him as she faded, and ask him to free the hearts she’d collected for the Organization. After that, she fell into sleep inside his heart, only to wake up in the Realm of Dreams.
First-Person Communicator Sample:
[The feed opens to show...not a person, but, some of the buildings in the First District. Then the face of an apparently curious Meow-wow occupies the screen for a moment before apparently the Spirit gets bored and moves away so once again the architecture is visible.]
And that’s your communicator set up, kupo! Is there anything else you need, kupo?
[No response is heard, but one must have been made, because the Moogle goes on.]
Let us know if anything comes up, kupo. We’re always happy to help, kupo.
Thanks.
[Then the feed is cut. Apparently the new arrival isn’t very sociable.]
Third-Person RP Sample:
Xion hadn’t expected to wake up again. The plan had been for her to fade into Sora--well, Roxas, who was part of Sora--and then eventually give those memories back to Sora himself. She’d go back to sleep in Sora’s heart, a memory never to be recalled.
Instead she was, strangely, awake in the Realm of Dreams. The Moogle had been helpful enough in giving her some basic information. She’d recognized Traverse Town from the faint echos she retained of Sora’s memories, but the information about Spirits and Nightmares could prove to be essential. The help in making her own Spirit had been appreciated, too.
Speaking of said Spirit, the Meow Wow had turned out to be remarkably playful. He--for some reason she thought of it as a he--had found a stick, and was now looking up at her with it held its mouth, begging her to throw it for him to catch. For what had to be the tenth time.
“Okay, but no more after this.” She threw stick, and the odd dog-cat mix raced after it, barking all the way. He barked so much she was considering naming him Barkley. It would fit.
She needed to do recon, before anything else. While she may have had a rough idea of the layout of the town, it wasn’t the same as seeing it for herself. It would also give her a chance to see who else was here, and maybe get a look at some Nightmares.
When her Meow-Wow returned, proudly showing off his prize, she gently took it, petting him to console him for its loss. “Come on Barkley. We’ve got some work to do.”
